Those of you who follow this web site know I have been out the last ten days. I am enclosing below a letter to my customers regarding this that may be of interest to some:
Monday May 20, 2024
Dear Valued JORDI FUSION CUSTOMERS,
Yes I am happily back from my “vacation” and see I missed some great trades:
This well illustrates a couple points about trading that I have been talking about for nearly 30 years. On 4/24/24 I added only 4 new stocks to our portfolio and one of those stocks was MTC. And last week I took my first “vacation” in about a decade and on the first trading day of my “vacation.” MTC went through the roof with two back to back 40% trades that would have added substantially to my bottom line had I been trading in real time rather than being “on vacation.”
This underscores a point I keep emphasizing: the majority of our profits come from a small fraction of our trades and to realize decent profits you have to take all the trades all the time and be patient and be willing to endure periods when the system feels like the worst trading system one could possibly be trading.
The Curse of the Trader Gods. I am not really superstitious, but I really believe in this one. Screw up on just one trade in a hundred and the Trader Gods will take every penny you made with the 99 trades you did right just because you screwed up just one time in 100 tries. I cannot tell you how many times this is happened to me.
And it gets worse. The Curse of the Trader Gods went with me on vacation. One day before I was to start my medical procedures that included surgery under anesthesia, I stumbled over a foot high curb and did a full face implant into concrete. Instantly I became a bloody mess with a head injury, two horrible black eyes, and a smashed bloody nose. I briefly thought of including a picture here. But I thought better of it, but suffice it to say I looked like I had been in a fight with a Grizzly Bear.
I cancelled all my procedures, nothing was done. It was a wasted trip. I was having difficulty walking straight and had to buy a cane which I have never used, but worse than that I had triple vision. Desperate to get home and rest I foolishly started driving the 670 mile trip home. Driving with triple vision is like driving on an acid trip. You see the road straight in front of you, then you see a second road to your left running where their should be a field and then you see a third road on your right in another field. All three roads converge about 100 feet in front of you and when a truck comes from the opposite direction it appears that it is going to hit you head on. I drove the entire 670 miles at 40 to 45 MPH gripping the steering wheel and being honked at constantly. My relief at finally arriving safely in my home driveway is indescribable.
But I am much better now. I no longer have triple vision, am thinking clearly and am back to doing my morning walking and without a cane thank God. This morning I got in a full steady mile and will quite shortly be up to my usual two to three daily miles I am sure. Given proper nutrition with occasional fasting, rest and exercise the human body’s capacity to heal itself, without drugs, and recover from trauma never ceases to amaze me.
But I will not stop believing in the Curse of the Trading Gods and may not take another “vacation” for another ten years.
I am working on untangling our trading portfolio right now and will get another letter out to you by the weekend. But it could be two or three more days before I get the web site working right.
Happy Trading!
